In order to save money, my husband rides in to work with my parents on days that their schedule is close together. It means that he has to wait up to 2 hours before going to work, but it saves so much in money.
Just to show the idiocy of the local Wal-Mart management, here is a true story of what happened today. My husband is waiting to clock in, he is wearing a black coat over his uniform to hide the fact that he works there. He did some shopping and started watching a movie that was playing in the department.
One of the Assistant Managers, Gary Whitney, saw him, dove down an aisle where he could watch him, and started writing notes. It was obvious he was ready to get him in trouble. A customer comes up to Gary and asks him how much something costs. Gary walks her out of the aisle, calls over to my husband to give the lady a price check. Bill informs him that he is not on the clock and cannot do it. Gary just starts to walk off.
When Gary looks back and sees the lady still standing in the aisle, he runs back and yells at Bill to do a price check for the lady. Bill looks over at Gary and VERY SLOWLY says, "I am NOT on the clock, I can not do it."
At this point Gary just says, "Oh" and gets the price check himself.
There were several witnesses to this, and everyone has told me how funny it was when you were there, but to me it just proves my point. Management doesn't listen and doesn't care, unless it is a way to get you in trouble.
