I've frequently been asked why I hate Texoma and it's people so much. Well I do not hate all people here, but the ones I do hate, there is a reason. Before you read any further, please let me remind you that this is USA, land of freedom. This means that you are free to not read this blog if you think that it will offend you in anyway. You are free not to read this blog if you think this blog will piss you off. And I am free to write in my own personal blog in my own personal page. There will be no names mentioned, so don't make assumptions that I am talking about you.
Again, these are my... MY answers to the questions I get of why I hate Texoma and what it ever did to me to make me so bitter.
I (and my entire family) hate Texoma for many reasons.
1) The people of Texoma (Texomites) are rude. These are some of the rudest people I have ever met in my entire life... and they are proud of it. It makes Pilot Point look like "Saints-ville".
2) The people of Texoma are very stupid... most of them anyways. I worked for about 7 years in the Sherman Wal Mart and saw all kinds of idiots pass through... and lucky me, they all found me everyday. Again, they are proud of their stupidity. Also, when the counties issue a burn ban because of the dry and windy weather, people around here think that means it's time for them to burn. I've seen it so many times from our hippy neighbors... I've even called the police on our neighbors because they were burning trash close to our houses during a burn ban, but this being Grayson county.. no one even cared.
3) 85% of the people are over the age of 65. I am 31 years old and I feel like this is just a place for people to come to die. It's the new Miami, just a lot more plainer, trashier, and boring. Scarry part about it is that they all still drive. You consider yourself lucky if you make it home without being involved in a car accident of some kind. I feel my soul dying each day we stay here.
4) No entertainment. The entertainment of Texoma is Wal Mart... and oh how Texomites around here make it their hobby. When I worked there, I would see the same people everyday walking around Wal Mart just because they were bored. I've actually had people tell me this word for word.
5) No jobs. All of the factory jobs have closed in Texoma. There are absolutely no office or computer jobs anywhere around until you get into McKinney... or all the way up into Oklahoma. The only career opportunities are Wal Mart, restaurant or retail. And nowdays a family can't survive making minimum wage.
6) This is poverty level out here. Most people live in trailer houses or old rotting wooden houses that have been around 50 + years and all of it's falling apart. Most of the area is all junked up. People around here store trash and junk (and I mean JUNK) in their yards. It literally looks like the city dump where I live because of our hippy neighbors. Strangers have even mistaken their place for a flea market... that's how much trash and junk they have in their yards. We have had our places (ours and my parents) up for sale for about 3 years and can't sell them because of the trashy neighbors. This is Whitesboro... they are proud of their trash. So now because the neighbors are like that (typical Texomites), we have had to let our place fall victim to forecloseure and mine and my parent's credit is shot for 7 years. Believe it or not, it wasn't this bad when we first moved out here.
7) There are only 3 local channels here: 12, 10 and "FoxTexoma"... 12 and 10 have local news, but they focus on Jokelahoma news more than Texas news. Dallas doesn't even exist to these idiots. If you hear news, it's 75% Oklahoma and 15% Grayson County. Never ever Dallas or surrounding. It is too far out to receive any of the Dallas stations with an antenna, and the sattelite providers say that FCC regulations prevent us from having any Dallas stations on DISH or DirecTV. The locals for us again are the Jokelahoma loving 10, 12 and MyTexoma channels.
8) There are way too many sheep loving freaks out here. Most people you see look like they haven't showered in about 8 months or so. And their teeth... or should I say what they have of their teeth they don't take care of. I'll bet that 60% of people around here are missing some, if not all of their teeth. This is including younger people!! It's so disgusting. But of course this being Texoma, they are proud. And hunters. Good Lord... I've never seen so many idiot hicks around. People here are so obsessed with hunting and killing innocent animals. There's one idiot freak that I used to work with.. that he hasn't had a woman for almost 10 years.... and he's too stupid to understand why.
9) Some Texomites are so closed minded and think that this is communist country up here. I have made 2 enimies (at least) because of my blogs. It's like I told them... this is a free country, I am a free US citizen and I can put what I want to on my own blog. I never used names when I created them.. so they shouldn't have taken them so personally. Besides, it's like I told them too... nobody forced them to come over to my page and read each and every blog.
10) Druggies: Now I know there are druggies everywhere. But here in Texoma, that's almost all that is here that I've seen, and everyone is so proud of it. Shortly after we moved out here, our hippy neighbors were sitting outside in their front yards around a campfire, smoking and passing joints around. My dad called the Grayson county sherrif department, but all they said was "oh, okay..." Like they didn't even care. Truth be known, they probably sold to the cops or vice versa.
I'm sure there's more, but these are the main reasons why I am so miserable, bitter and unhappy. Good news is that by July '08 at the latest, we will be moving to Houston.. the south side between Houston and Galveston.
