LISSA’S: HIV testing while getting your oil changed

Have you ever been walking through Wal-Mart and wondered what your cholesterol level is? Or maybe shopping for groceries has made you want to deal with your constipation issues? Too bad there is not real "One Stop Shopping." Or is there? Recently, Wal-Mart announced that their Clinic at Wal-Mart trials has been extremely successful, and they have given the approval to expand the Clinic at Wal-Mart to another 365 stores around the country.

My question is simple, how much are you going to trust a grocery store clinic? Remember, this is the same company who started a real estate company to be able to sell the building. The real estate company had no intention of selling the building, but to hold it without ownership so that Wal-Mart would not be responsible local property taxes. This same company wants to be able to prescribe you drugs, oh, that you will fill at their pharmacy. They have already tried to cheat the government, why not attack their loyal patrons? It only makes sense.

The low wages they pay has a tremendous turnover. Just in pharmacy alone, most pharmacists use Wal-Mart as a stepping stone, not a work place. Doctors and nurses will be the same way. Plus, Wal-Mart is known for staffing positions with their own people, not professionals. Wal-Marts have a tendency to pull people from other departments to staff their front end. Getting customers checked out has taken a higher priority than helping customers in the store. So, the best news…that guy handling your produce may have just been doing a prostate exam.

So, the next time you go into your favorite Wal-Mart and check out, be nice to the pimply face boy scanning your order. He could be the next one to check you for breast cancer or a hernia. You created the monster, it just keeps growing. It is up to you to decide whether this is the place you want to support. But at least you know have a place where you can actually hear the words, "Mr. Smith, you car is ready for you in automotive and your herpes test came back negative."
